Why is this happening?

The UK’s recent Online Safety Act 2023 requires online platforms that publish adult content — including still images — to implement strict age verification for UK users. Ofcom, now the regulator enforcing this law, aims to ensure children cannot access potentially harmful content and that platforms have “robust systems in place“.

Mainstream outlets like the BBC explain how this means non-compliant sites must either invest in costly ID checks or restrict access altogether. Many small or independently run platforms (like ours) simply don’t have the resources to build and maintain such systems at scale. It’s why you’re now seeing those “Uh‑oh, blocked” messages.
